This was an early show ending just before 11:00 on a wednesday evening.
I missed the first two bands, The Enemies and Caustic Christ. A friend
told me I didn't miss anything though. The Agora was packed like I
have never seen at a punk show (or metal for that matter). It was
incredible! A sea of mohawks, long and short hairs, leather jackets,
spikes, patches...a show in itself. But to those of us who were there
nothing was more in view than the band everyone came to see; The Subhumans,
one of the most influential and important punk bands of all time! Since the
late 70's they have been kicking out pure punk rock and have never abandoned
the course. Aside from the Subs, Dick (vocals) and Trotsky (drums)
also play in Citizen Fish which is a phenomenal band in it's own right.
One thing I noticed at the show is no one was shouting out song titles.
Everyone just wanted to hear the Sub's perform. It didn't matter which
song, they're all outstanding. While they didn't touch on every album
(nothing from "29:29 Split Vision"). They did do a lot of songs off the
first 4 7" inches (combined to make the "EP/LP" release). The band
performed such classics as "Work Experience", "It's Gonna Get Worse", "All
Gone Dead", and even the 20 minute epic "From The Cradle To The Grave" which
was the last song before they came back onstage to end with 5 encores.
People slammed and stage dived throughout the entire set, and amazingly
there were no fights! One couldn't ask for a more perfect evening!
